Lately, I've been reading a lot of fanfiction in Japanese. As my level is not so high, I've developed a method that allows me to read without dying of boredom looking up kanji.
This way, I'm improving my vocabulary and kanji while reading fanfics.
My method, for those interested:
1) Firstly needed: a good Japanese word processor with a pop up dictionary --> Highly recommended:
NJStar Japanese Word Processor 2) Write there the names of the pair or fandom, copy and paste in Google (or write it directly there, if you can) and add "小説" or "SS" or "novel" (For example, 乾海 小説 (inukai, shousetsu))
3) Select a result and search there a link with "小説" or "SS" or "novel". Sometimes they name it 文
4) Select a story, select all, copy and paste it in the NJStar WP, and start reading. When I find a word I don't know, I place the cursor over it and the dictionary pops up with the reading in Hiragana and the meaning.
